Located along the scenic marina front of Vila Nova de Gaia, Bio Coffee & Brunch is a charming cafeteria and brunch spot that invites both locals and travelers to indulge in a wholesome yet indulgent culinary journey. This bright, cozy eatery specializes in a delightful fusion of organic, health-forward dishes paired with decadent sweet treats and invigorating beverages, making it an ideal destination for breakfast, brunch, or a laid-back coffee break.
The menu at Bio Coffee & Brunch reflects an inspired balance between fresh, plant-based options and classic brunch favorites. Signature dishes like the creamy Eggs Benedict and its hearty sibling, the King Benedict, come served with luxuriously smooth Hollandaise sauce that complements perfectly poached eggs and thoughtfully chosen breads. For the adventurous palate, the Veggie Burger offers an earthy beet-based patty that is both visually striking and satisfyingly flavorful, albeit with a few noted hits and misses according to reviews. Sweet tooths will be drawn to the fluffy Panqueca Nuttela smothered in rich Nutella with fresh strawberries and banana, embodying a heavenly contrast of crispness and gooey sweetness.
Health-conscious diners will appreciate options like the vibrant Breakfast Bowl and the nutritious Taça Bowl featuring mushrooms, feta cheese, couscous, and fresh vegetables—each dish highlighting the freshness and organic quality of the ingredients. The Tapioca Pancake Breakfast offers a gluten-free spin, ideal for those seeking lighter fare without compromising on taste.
The beverage selection is equally thoughtful, with expertly crafted coffee drinks such as the velvety Latte Macchiato and refreshing cocktails like the zesty Mojito, which many guests have warmly recommended. Whether you’re sipping your morning brew or lingering over a vibrant cocktail, the views out to the marina add a tranquil ambiance that elevates the entire dining experience.
While the atmosphere at Bio Coffee & Brunch is undeniably cozy and inviting, some customers have pointed out that service can be uneven during busy periods. A small team manages both front and kitchen duties, which, at peak times, can mean longer wait times for food despite swift coffee service. However, many guests have found staff to be friendly and attentive once engaged, contributing a warm personal touch to the visit.
Musical choices might not resonate with every visitor, but the overall vibe remains positive—an intimate spot perfect for a relaxing brunch with friends or a peaceful solo outing to savor fresh, thoughtfully prepared dishes. From the captivating tartes like Tarte de Chocolate and Tarte de Maracujá to savory selections like Tosta de Bacon and Sandes com Tomate Rúcula e Ovo, Bio Coffee & Brunch manages to delight a variety of tastes in a fresh, vibrant setting.
In sum, Bio Coffee & Brunch is a gem for those who prioritize quality ingredients, creative menus, and a serene marina-side backdrop. Ideal for health aficionados and indulgent brunch lovers alike, it offers a sincere taste of Vila Nova de Gaia's brunch culture—just be ready to embrace a relaxed pace and soak in the view while you wait.
This is an adorable marina front restaurant. I was looking for a vegan option before my sunset cruise. The service was a bit slow, I had to ask to be seated and for a menu. However, once I ordered, my coffee arrived quickly and I enjoyed the view. The food arrived a short time later and I was DISAPPOINTED! I ordered the veggie burger, which was made with beets. It arrived on a bun so blue, it matched the plate! The taste was amazing!
Wow the food here was so good. Cant recommend the bio toast enough. Super fresh and flavorful. Our server was great, his cocktail recommendation was just spot on. Only thing is that the music choice was truly horrible.
Bio Café and Brunch in Porto is a nice little place with a cozy vibe and a good range of healthy options. The menu leans toward organic and plant-based dishes, which is great if you’re looking for something light and fresh. I enjoyed the smoothie bowl and the coffee was solid.
We went for a brunch and we really enjoyed. I had the eggs Benedict, sauce was tasty but it didn’t cover the taste of the avocado and the bread was really good. And we shared the pancakes with Nutella and strawberry and banana, they were fluffy and it has a lot of Nutella, a little bit too much. Service was good.
We got here first thing on Sunday for breakfast knowing that we are a large group of 9. We were one of the first to arrive and were seated together. We gave orders but it was almost 30min before any food started being served. Coffees were quick but the food took a really long time. There was only 1 person serving and looked like just 1 other in the kitchen, so the waiter was obviously struggling. Wouldn't have hurt if she was a bit upbeat, but she really did lack any sort of friendly vibe. She wasn't rude, but not friendly. She stood at the end of the table without making an effort to move along to take the orders..HOWEVER she got my order a bit wrong and without hesitation amended it at once. The food is really is great and we all had empty plates. Most of the group are veg so the best thing about this place is that it has plenty options. Really good location by the marina..I can imagine it being really busy in summer. It did get busy even on the day. There's plenty parking which is a plus. Go for the food!
